Forest City: A Haven of Community and Sustainability

In Johor, Malaysia, Forest City is a bright example of how to grow in a way that is good for the environment and the community. Country Garden Holdings led this unique project, which has won many awards, including the prestigious Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards (SCAHSA) Global Modal of Green and Intelligent Construction.

Building a Better Future

Forest City has won the SCAHSA awards for six years in a row. This year’s award shows that Forest City is committed to green and smart building, which shows that it wants to build a better future for the world and its people.

With the theme “Together for a shared safer and greener urban future: resilient, carbon-neutral, and nature-positive cities,” the SCAHSA awards celebrate excellent contributions to sustainable development practices and innovations. Cities, businesses, groups, and people all over the world have learned from Forest City’s new ideas and tools.

Partnering for Progress

Partners from all over the world want to work with Forest City because of its commitment to environment and community involvement. At the Global Forum on Human Settlements, 25 top organizations, including 10 major UN agencies, joined the project as co-organizers and partners. These relationships have helped spread the word about best practices that can be used again and again and have inspired others to take action for sustainable development.

Getting along Well with Nature

Forest City is based on the idea that the future of towns must be good for nature. By bringing nature into cities, we can improve people’s health and happiness, stop species loss, and make cities more resistant to climate change. Forest City’s approach to urban planning that works with nature has helped make it a unique place that fits in well with its natural surroundings.

Contributing to the Community

Forest City cares a lot about giving back to the community and is also committed to being environmentally friendly. The project has helped poor students, children, and people living in seven towns near Mukim Tanjung Kupang through its Corporate Social Responsibility projects.

During the holy month of Ramadan, 203 students from Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Quran Ulumuddin in Kangkar Tebrau joined Forest City for an iftar event. This showed how much Forest City cares about its community. Students from welfare homes and care centers around Johor Bahru came to the event, which made them feel like they were part of a group and that they belonged there.

Conclusion

Forest City is more than just a project; it is a plan for a better future. Forest City is a leader in making the world more sustainable, fair, and adaptable through its commitment to sustainability, involvement with the community, and nature-positive urban planning. As we look to the future, we can all learn from what happened in Forest City and work together to make the world a better place for ourselves and the people who come after us.
